We have taken a story that happened long back as base of this film. Let us wait and watch Pournami if I am there in the film or not. My appearance in those two films was not planned. Can we expect another cameo from you in Pournami too?
You gave guest appearances in the recent films (Varsham and NVNV). Though the script is mine, he added a lot to it from his side. He proved himself as a director with NVNV. Prabhudeva has seen everything in life and profession as choreographer and actor. NVNV was a sweet film and Pournami looks like a huge film with different backdrop. I am very happy with him and his performance. I was shocked to see the same boy who worked for Varsham film delivering ultimate performance in Pournami. What has the difference between Varsham Prabhas and Pournami Prabhas? The number of working days for this film is around 180-190 days.Īll the songs in this film are situation based?Īll songs are situational songs except for one that comes just before climax (ichi puchuko). It is ok to take 8 months to shoot such a huge film like Pournami. We worked on the script from February 2005 onwards and launched the film on 22nd of August. Though we announced the project after the release of NVNV. It is been one year since you started this project. I always believe that we should speak less about our works and let the others speak about it. Only film that I over-publicized in the past was Devi Putrudu and you know the result. I always kept low profile for my films before film’s release. Why are you keeping very low profile in terms of publicity for Pournami? There will be a very good message in the film.
We made Pournami in such a way that it instills Telugu culture and our traditions into the minds of movie lovers without going into the preaching mode. But all I can say is that Pournami belongs to the type of musical based films like Sankarabharanam, Sagarasangamam etc. I cannot say which genre it belongs to now. Likewise, for Pournami publicity too created good amount of curiosity among the cine goers.
But after the film’s release everybody is satisfied. For NVNV film, everybody told me before film release that Siddardh is loking girlish with that kind of hairdo. Some other asked me if it is a remake of Punnami Nagu where hero goes on heroines killing spree, because Pournami has five heroines. A few fans called me up and asked me if the story is about rebirth. People already started speculating about the story. There is lot of curiosity in the market and movie lovers to know what Pournami story is all about. In the first reel of the film itself, we revealed why we named this film as ‘Pournami’. There will be something new in this film. Audiences have encouraged me whenever I did different films. Pournami is an experimental film with commercial flavor. It is a risky proposition to name this pleasant title to a big action hero. The movie is clichéd as Indian movies tend to be, but the viewer can certainly finish feeling fulfilled.The name Pournami itself gives us a pleasant feeling. The first half is a flashback of all the previous events and the second half is the continuation in present tense as Venakt plans and executes Sailaja's rescue as well as clearing up their misunderstanding. The film starts off with Sailaja being kidnapped by Bhadranna's men and the film's producer and Sailaja's father coming to Venkat for help getting Sailaja back.
Venkat leaves because of Sailaja's lack of trust in him. Ranga Rao does not want Venkat to marry Sailaja as he thinks his daughter has a better prospect in future in acting and he plans to break them up by working together with Bhadranna to break her trust of him. Meanwhile a popular film producer wants Sailaja to be in his movie and Ranga Rao sees this as his chance to repay his money and live his life in luxury. Bhadranna banks on the failure on Ranga Rao's part to repay him and wants Sailaja's hand in marriage. Bhadranna,though,has another interest in lending money to Ranga Rao, he falls in love with Sailaja and wants her for himself. He comes across Bhadranna (Gopichand) the don for Nizam area and borrows money from him. The story is simple enough, Venkat (Prabhas) is a youth in search of a job and happens to come to Warangal where he meets Sailaja (Trisha) and falls in love. The music is extremely good as its scintillates the viewer hinting at an underlying sexuality without actually showing anything and that is exactly what is so alluring about the movie. Music: Devi Sri Prasad Director:Shoban Though purportedly this movie is a "freemake" of Hindi movie Tezaab, this movie sets its own pace and has its own allure.
